How to Install TWRP on Samsung Galaxy Note 9
Because the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 already supports being able to open the bootloader, this smartphone finally has got its own TWRP version. And TWRP here is the official TWRP version.
TWRP itself is a custom recovery for Android that can be used to install/flash ROM, boot image and others into your smartphone, simply you can make any modifications to the Android operating system.
You can also root through this TWRP, so if your smartphone already supports and installed TWRP or another custom recovery, then your smartphone will almost certainly be rooted.
But first, prepare the following materials first to install TWRP Recovery Note 9 Snapdragon:
In addition, consider also the following:
- Make sure to use a USB cable that is still functioning properly
- Samsung Galaxy Note 9 batteries try to be at least 50%
- This root method will remove the warranty from your smartphone
- This method can only be used on Galaxy Note 9 with Exynos chipsets or SM-N960F / FD / X / N models
Extract the root tool file that has been downloaded, then install the Samsung USB Driver. If all of the above has been fulfilled by my friend, then we can continue this tutorial.
1. Enable OEM Unlocking
To enable OEM Unlocking, you must first activate the developer options mode. The trick is very easy, just open “Settings”> “About Phone”. Then tap or press seven times “Build Number” (Name Formation) until there is a small notification that the developer options are active.
After that, you open Settings again, and scroll down to find Developer options. Open Developers options and look for OEM Unlocking then activate, then search and activate USB Debugging as well.
2. Enter Downloading Mode
Next, you have to go into download mode, first, turn off your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 cellphone first. Then press and hold the power button + bixby + volume down simultaneously until the download mode display appears as below.
Then press the volume button up to enter into downloading mode.
3. Flash File TWRP
Plug in your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 cellphone, which has entered downloading mode earlier to the computer using a USB cable. Then extract the downloaded Odin file and open Odin by right-clicking then selecting “Run Administrator”.
After Odin opens, wait a moment until Odin recognizes your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 cellphone. Just look at the left Odin, if there is an inscription “Added” means your Galaxy Note 9 has been read correctly. But if it’s not there, then chances are that Samsung drivers aren’t installed properly or worse, you forgot to install.
I assume your Galaxy Note 9 has been detected at Odin. Then click AP and look for the TWRP file that was downloaded earlier. Next in the options tab, make sure that “Auto Reboot” and “Re-partition” are NOT checked. After that, click Start to begin the process of installing TWRP into the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Snapdragon.
Wait a minute, if all is successful there will be a “PASS” message in Odin and if it fails there is a “Failed” message. If my friend fails, then most likely the downloaded TWRP file was corrupt, then try downloading the steps as above again.
If the TWRP installation process is complete, you can unplug the USB cable connected to the PC and enter the next tutorial.
How To Root Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Snapdragon
I assume that the TWRP installation process has been successful and my friend is still in Download Mode. The next step is to reboot into recovery mode. The trick is to press and hold the volume down + power button. Shortly after the screen turns full black, release the volume button down and replace pressing the volume button up while still holding the power button.
Pressing the volume down button is intended to reboot the phone, then when the phone will reboot then change the volume button up to reboot into recovery, not to the system. That way, your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 should be able to successfully enter TWRP Recovery mode.
The first time you enter TWRP, select “Keep Read Only”, don’t give access to modify the system.
The next step is to wipe the internal memory by entering the Wipe menu then selecting Data Format. Type yes to start the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 data wipe process friend.
When finished, return to the TWRP menu and select Mount> Enable MTP then connect your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to the PC.
Copy the file Noverity, RMM Bypass and Magisk from the root Tool file that was downloaded earlier and transfer it to the cellphone. Once done, go directly to the Install menu on TWRP and select the file Noverity that was just copied into the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, friend.
After finishing Flash Noverity, this time flash the RMM Bypass and Magisk files in the same way.
After all the files have been flashed, then go back to the TWRP menu and reboot your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone to the OS and wait until the phone turns back on. Here’s how to root the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Snapdragon, see you again at Masarbi.com.
